Custom Branding Motion
A logo sting is the smallest piece of brand motion, and on its own it is nearly useless. What makes a channel look like one brand is the system underneath it: the ident, the transitions between shots, the lower thirds, the end card, and a rule for how they move. We build all of it together, then hand over the editable projects so your team can keep applying it without us.
- Founders whose videos each open differently because every freelancer brought their own intro
- Content teams publishing weekly who need a repeatable open, outro, and title set instead of rebuilding titles each time
- Brands who just finished a visual identity and now need it to move without contradicting the static guidelines
- In-house editors who want templated After Effects projects they can retitle themselves rather than briefing an agency for every clip

Most brands have a logo animation and no brand motion
The usual sequence goes like this: someone needs an intro, a five-second logo animation gets commissioned, and it is fine. Then the actual videos get made, and every one of them opens with that sting followed by titles in a different typeface, transitions borrowed from whatever preset pack the editor had installed, and an end card designed on the day. The result is a channel where one asset is on-brand and everything around it is not — which is a worse outcome than having no ident at all, because the inconsistency is now framed by something that looks deliberate. Static brand guidelines make this worse by staying silent on motion: they specify colour, type, and clear space, but nothing about how fast things move, whether the brand eases or snaps, whether elements wipe or dissolve. Those decisions get made anyway, just by whoever is editing at the time.
What's included.
Every custom branding motion engagement covers all four of these — they are the work, not upsells.
A logo system, not a single sting
We build the ident at more than one length, because different placements need different things. A full reveal of two to five seconds for launch films and the top of long-form, a one-to-two-second bumper for regular content where nobody wants to wait, and a sub-second animated tag or corner mark for short-form where the first frame decides whether anyone stays. All three are built from the same motion logic, so they read as the same brand rather than three separate animations that happen to use your logo.
A transition and title pack your editor can actually use
The pieces that sit between shots: branded wipes and shape transitions built from your identity's forms rather than generic swishes, lower thirds with editable name and role fields, callout and stat cards, subscribe or CTA bugs, and an end card with room for links. Delivered as After Effects projects with essential-property controls exposed, so changing a name or a colour is a field to type in rather than a layer to hunt through, plus pre-rendered alpha-channel versions for editors who do not run After Effects.
Motion that matches the identity, with sound to match
The look is derived from what your brand already is. Sharp geometric type gets tight easing and decisive cuts; a soft, rounded identity gets overshoot and settle. We define that once — the easing curves, the timing, the entrance and exit behaviour — and apply it consistently across every asset. Where you want it, a short sonic logo and the sound design for the ident are built alongside, because an ident that lands visually and arrives silently feels unfinished in a feed.
Written motion rules, so the system survives the handover
Every delivery includes a short brand motion document: the approved durations, the easing behaviour, minimum sizes, safe areas, which version to use in which placement, and what not to do with the mark. It is the thing that lets the next editor, agency, or in-house hire apply the system correctly without guessing — and it is what turns a folder of files into something that still looks coherent a year later.

How it gets made.
The sequence for this service specifically. How we work, in detail.
- 01
Identity and asset audit
We start from your logo files, type, and colour system, and check what actually animates. Raster logos, hairline strokes, and gradients with no vector source all cause problems at this stage rather than at delivery, and it is cheap to rebuild a mark as clean vectors now.
- 02
Motion direction on styleframes
Two or three directions as static frames plus a written description of how each moves — what enters, in what order, with what easing. You pick a direction here, before anything is animated, which is the only moment a change costs an afternoon.
- 03
The ident, built first
The full-length reveal is animated and approved on its own, because every other asset inherits its timing and easing. Once it is signed off, the short bumper and the tag are derived from it rather than designed separately.
- 04
The system built around it
Transitions, lower thirds, cards, and the end card are built to the approved motion rules, then rigged with editable controls so your team can retitle them without opening a single keyframe.
- 05
Delivery and motion guidelines
Rendered masters with and without alpha in every ratio, the editable projects, the audio stems, and the written motion sheet — handed over together so the system is usable by someone who was never on the project.

A custom animated logo reveal is included in the Growth Bundle at $950, alongside a launch video, a 2D/3D product intro, and the ad creative set, on a 10-day turnaround for the whole kit. The Scale Package at $1,600 and the Full-Funnel Bundle from $2,900 build on it. A full brand motion system — ident set, transition pack, titles, and the guidelines document — is usually scoped as a one-off project at 7 to 10 days, or built out request by request on the $2,450/mo retainer where individual assets average about 48 hours each.

Custom Branding Motion questions.
Shorter than most people expect. Two to five seconds is right for a full reveal at the top of a launch film or a long-form video, where the viewer has already committed. For regular content, one to two seconds is plenty — a five-second intro on a weekly upload trains your audience to skip. For short-form vertical, put the mark on screen as an animated corner tag rather than a front-loaded sting, because the first frame is doing the work of holding the viewer and a logo is not a hook. That is exactly why we build the ident at three lengths rather than one.
Vector, ideally: an AI, EPS, or SVG with live paths and the type either as outlines or with the font named. Vector artwork lets us take the mark apart, animate individual shapes, and scale it to 4K without softening. A high-resolution PNG can work for simple treatments but limits what is possible, and a JPEG or a logo pulled off a website usually needs redrawing first. If you only have raster files, tell us at the brief — redrawing the mark as clean vectors is a small, worthwhile job and you keep the result.
Yes, and it is delivered by default. You get alpha-channel masters as MOV (ProRes 4444) and as a PNG sequence, which is what your editor needs to lay the ident over footage rather than cutting to a coloured card. For web placements we can also supply WebM with a VP9 alpha channel, though browser support for alpha video is uneven — for a website header or an app splash, a Lottie or an SVG animation is usually the better answer and we will say so.
Often, but not always, and the honest answer depends on how the ident was designed. Lottie renders vector shapes, transforms, and trim paths faithfully, so a geometric mark that builds from strokes and shapes converts cleanly. Blurs, glows, particle effects, 3D layers, and most After Effects effects do not export at all. If a web Lottie is part of the plan, tell us at the brief stage and we design the ident inside Lottie's supported feature set from the first keyframe, then deliver both the video masters and an optimised JSON and dotLottie bundle.
Yes. Everything is delivered twice: as editable After Effects projects for teams that have AE, and as pre-rendered alpha-channel files for teams that do not. The rendered transitions, lower thirds, and end cards drop into Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or any editor that reads ProRes 4444 or PNG sequences. Where a title needs different text and you have no AE licence, we can pre-render a set of variants or supply the lower thirds as a template with the text on its own layer.
It is the short document that stops the system decaying. It states the approved ident durations and which one belongs in which placement, the easing and timing rules so new assets move like the existing ones, safe areas and minimum sizes, the colour and background pairings that are allowed, and the specific things not to do with the mark — no stretching, no re-timing the reveal, no substituting a different transition set. It is typically a handful of pages, and it is the reason the work still looks consistent after your team has been applying it for a year.
Yes. On final payment, ownership of the finished animations and the editable After Effects projects transfers to you, with no usage window, territory limit, or separate buy-out. Fonts, music, and any stock elements are commercially licensed before they go into the work, and you receive the asset list with delivery. You can hand the projects to another studio or an in-house editor without asking us for a release.
